Search for “Halloween” Increases On Google and Tiktok In Vietnam

Halloween is one of the biggest festivals in Western countries and is celebrated annually on October 31. Some of the most popular activities include: dressing up in colorful and spooky costumes, carving pumpkins, joining in “tricks or treats” games, or making ghost–themed parties.

In the past, Halloween was only celebrated in certain parts of the world, but this festival has become well–known in various culture, and are loved by many people globally.

Recently, a lot of young people are deeply interested in Halloween in Vietnam. This year, according to Google Trends, the trend of searching for the keyword “Halloween” users in Vietnam began to increase from the end of August to the beginning of September. At the moment, the keyword search “Halloween” increased 4 times compared to the end of July. Meanwhile, searches for the keyword “Halloween day” have doubled.

Also according to Google’s statistics, the group of the public interested in searching for this keyword is mainly concentrated in the central provinces such as Kon Tum, Quang Nam, Quang Binh, etc.

The most – searched keywords include: “Halloween decorations”, “food”, “Halloween candy, “Halloween date 2022”. The keywords “Halloween lights”, and “Halloween pumpkin” also have a sudden increase in searches in the past 3 months, with the interest level reaching 100 (the highest level assessed by Google Trend). The keywords “Halloween festival”, “Halloween”, and “Halloween day” also reached an interest level of 100. The keyword “Halloween decoration” had more than 2000 searches on October 24.

Notably, in the past 5 years, the keyword “Halloween” has had a much larger search volume and interest than “Christmas”.

On the TikTok platform, the keyword “Halloween 2022” has been popularly mentioned in recent times. However, the Halloween theme only went viral in the past week with videos revolving around the topic of suggesting the scariest and best costumes to choose from. A lot of people are especially interested in videos of typical Halloween places to eat and play such as Hang Ma Street, Halloween-themed cafes, etc.
