The Mystical Night Chimes of Hanoi: Unveiling the Secrets of the “Tran Vu Bell” Temple Tour
THE HANOI TIMES — “Tieng chuong Tran Vu” (The Bell of Tran Vu), a brand-new night tour, is set to launch in Hanoi this August. This immersive experience offers travelers a unique blend of spiritual heritage, folklore, and theatrical storytelling at Quan Thanh Temple, one of the capital’s most sacred sites.
Introduced to commemorate the 64th anniversary of Ba Dinh District, the tour is a collaborative effort between the Ba Dinh People’s Committee, the Management Board of Quan Thanh Temple, researchers, and travel companies. A soft launch is planned for late May, with weekly operations commencing August 2025. Each 90-minute session will accommodate approximately 100 visitors.

The tour highlights Hanoi’s spiritual essence, combining cultural and spiritual tourism with live re-enactments at the historic Quan Thanh Temple, also known as Tran Bac. It is one of the four ancient guardian temples of Thang Long.
Inspired by the annual festival honoring the deity Huyen Thien Tran Vu, the night tour takes guests on a captivating journey through ancient myths, traditional beliefs, and Vietnam’s rich cultural tapestry.
Live performances, skillfully staged amongst sacred relics, draw from both tangible and intangible heritage. They bring to life stories linked to nearby traditional craft villages, such as Truc Bach, known for its silk woven by royal concubines, and Ngu Xa, renowned for bronze casting, including sacred objects within the temple.
With its blend of emotional storytelling and historical context, the tour presents a fresh, humanized perspective on heritage interpretation, bridging the ancient and modern. The organizers aim to enhance Hanoi’s night tourism, extend visitor stays, and boost the city’s cultural economy.
Accompanying the tour is the launch of a new fan page and a visual identity campaign for the temple, titled “Sacred Guardians of the Capital – Timeless Beauty.” These initiatives reflect a more modern and professional approach to heritage communication and engagement.
Quan Thanh Temple will also continue to host cultural events and experiential programs, including exhibitions of calligraphy works honoring Tran Vu, Tet-themed installations, traditional costume try-ons, and early-year calligraphy writing experiences.
“The Bell of Tran Vu” invites visitors to explore Hanoi’s heritage under the stars, offering a soulful and story-rich journey into the spiritual heart of this ancient capital.
